Greetings!

My 7th/8th grade lit teacher has just come to me with an interesting request.
She'd like to locate some resources that help cross-reference issues between the
historical fiction novels her class is reading and the actual events of that time
period - for example, they just completed The Last of the Mohicans, referencing the
French and Indian War, and now they're moving on to Katherine Paterson's novel
Lyddie, and will be taking a look at the Industrial Revolution.

My first instinct, of course, was to head over to the 900s and start grabbing books
on those subjects, but I think this teacher is hoping for something at least a
little more book-specific, or at least something that addresses historical fiction.
I'm aware of a few book-specific titles that look at particular novels, but I'd
appreciate any recommendations anyone could make for resources that address the
history - historical fiction divide. I'd particularly love to hear if anyone is
aware of "non-book-specific" resources that look at this issue. I'll be happy to
post a hit next week if anyone is interested.

Thanks - and have a wonderful weekend! :)
