I pretty much lost my respect for the author about the same time Shonda did; the "assertion" that "Information literacy assumes that she accepts unquestioningly the information she finds on the Internet, when we know from research that she is a skeptic who filters her results to the best of her ability." Has the guy ever watched college students at work????? I can only assume based on what he said, that *his* standards are so horribly low that he sincerely believes that if you can cut and paste something that looks like it meets an assignment, then hey! that's all we need to graduate, right? I guess his assignment was to write an article, so that he could Get Published. It didn't have to actually make sense; these same horrible librarians who insist on teaching the foibles of individual databases are at fault because they haven't made them simpler; the fact that they don't make them has nothing to do with the assignment of writing An Article About Information Literacy. Makes rather a strong case for improving information literacy and critical thinking.
