Another LMnetter posted a hit about "Frindle," which mentioned Spinelli's "Library Card." I would love to share more literature with my 3rd through 5th graders, but are concerned about them sitting through a whole book (40 minutes at a time). There are also scheduling concerns, and sometimes I won't see a class for weeks. Does anyone have other recommendations like "The Library Card" --in other words, something that is a collection of short stories for this age group? In addition, any tips or ideas for class read alouds would be much appreciated!
