Thanks to everyone who responded to the query about personal days. Almost all schools are different, and since there were so many responses, I will summarize. A special thank you to everyone who took the time to respond; you are a great "bunch" of people! The most common response: 2 "free" days per year (do not have to pay for substitute) Within this there were numerous variations. The best one is 2 each year until 10 are accumulated. Some schools allow 2 days each year, and if they aren't used, they are added to the sick days. We can accumulate up to 5, but 2 of those cost us sub pay. Second most common response: 5 personal days a year with no accumulation Third most common response: 3 personal days a year. One school allows 3 each year, with accumulation to 4 only. In some schools teachers are paid for days they do not use instead of the accumulation factor. Fourth most common response: 4 personal days a year. One school says that at the end of the year, any unused days convert to sick leave. There were other variations. Some schools give a larger number of sick days that are also considered personal days. Hopefully, we will be able to improve our policy. We will probably be able to change it so people will be able to get the "free" ones (not pay subs) sooner than the present 10 years. Thanks again to everyone.
