[LM_NET] TARGET: Elem. Do you know this book?

We are hunting for the title of a book about a little boy who faithfully
feeds the farm animals every day.  Then one day, the little boy doesn't show
up and the animals are worried.  They find out the school bus has picked up
the little guy for his first day of school.  The gentleman who remembers
this story was born in 1955, and he thinks the little boy's name might be
Bill.  Any ideas?  Thanks!
