Message Since we've been discussing literacy (and the lack of it) at the university level, here's an interesting piece from the NYT yesterday that discusses the development (and implementation) of a new "information literacy test" for entering college students. It's being developed by ETS (the same people who do the SAT and the GRE...etc.) Read more about it and wonder if librarians have really "missed the boat" by NOT charging for individualized instruction for some of this stuff!! Measuring Literacy in a World Gone Digital By TOM ZELLER Jr. The Educational Testing Service has developed a new test that it says can assess technology literacy. http://www.nytimes.com/2005/01/17/technology/17test.html?th=&adxnnl=1&adxnnlx=1106074851-hzzGx4TKfCUJ62oOzOhy0w ~Shonda Brisco Trinity Valley MS /US Librarian Fort Worth, TX sbrisco021@charter.net -------------------------------------------------------------------- All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
