LA teacher has requested a read aloud book for 6th graders that they will LOVE. She is starting to introduce short stories and also want sto follow SS curriculum if possible, they are starting Western Eurpoe and Asia. I suggested the Newbury "The Single Shard", I loved it and lots of ideas to discuss and a memoir type book which might jog student memories to develop a short story. I also suggested Sadako and the 1000 ....and Homeless Bird. Those are what came to mind immediately, any ideas out there....thanks cb Literature gives us a memory of lives we did not lead.
