Hi all... We are planning our author visit for next year. One of the author's that we are considering is Deborah Ellis. Breadwinner was nominated a few years ago as a Rebecca Caudill Award book in Illinois. I looked at her website and liked what I saw. Her message is strongly concerned social justice, diversity, and, of course, women's roles. Several people have heard her speak at a public library gathering in a nearby suburb. The concensus was that she was great. However, speaking to a large group of students can be a very different thing. Have any of you heard her speak at any state/national professional meetings or have any of you had her visit your school? I would really love to hear your feedback. Will be happy to post a hit with opinions. Thanks so much! Readingly yours, Chris Christine L.
