Recently I tried out "google alerts" to help me keep track of news for topics I was searching daily in multiple lists. http://www.google.com/alerts (Note, I don't rely only upon Google! This was one of many areas.) I tried out terms like "school library" and expected to be deluged with hits. Sadly, it seems that search term resulted in mainly news articles about meetings being held in school libraries, not meaningful examples of activities, programs, awards, or recognition of school libraries. I do appreciate the service though and thought I'd ask if anyone else has had success with google alerts. Also, how can we do a better job getting good press for school libraries? I have been curled up reading Sandy Schuckett's book "Political Advocacy for School Librarians: You have the Power!" and contemplating issues of advocacy. THanks. http://www.google.com/alerts Diane R.
