I'm with Paula. I also wonder what happened to ALA and AASL? I also wonder
how many of us insert ourselves into the technology side of education? How
many of you belong to ISTE or your state technology education organizations
*and* take an active part to be heard? We cannot sit back and watch
"computer teachers" or whatever they want to call themselves, (no offense
intended) become the information leaders. Information literacy didn't
change when it became digital, so why did the source of information leader
change...maybe because librarians were too busy trying to keep books on the
shelf..but aside from that, as we all suffer from budget and staffing
problems, we must be proactive. I earned a second master's degree in
curriculum and technology (going into personal debt) so I could stay on top
of things and have credibility...that is being proactive. It doesn't help to
whine after the fact. <end of ranting>
