[LM_NET] Tech Query: CD ROM

My daughter bought a college textbook that came with a CDROM.

It says to insert it into the CD Drive and double click on the "read me file"

But, I put it in and nothing is happening--nothing is coming up on the screen at 
all.

So, how do I install this?  Every other CD I put in there,  you hear this whirring 
sound and a little box opens and you just follow along with the instructions.

I have a Presario with Windows XP.
