Well, I'm not sure this is really funny, but I was taken aback by it. Many years ago I was teaching an English class. A sophomore girl wrote a report about Martin Luther King, Junior. She went on and on about how he helped free the slaves. When she received a failing grade on her paper, her parents scheduled a conference with me. I explained what the problem was, and her mother was surprised because . . . "We are Lutheran and everything!"
