Have any of you used "library consultants" to help identifying problems and providing reports for your school boards or school districts? I am interested in knowing if you had a group of professionals that came to evaluate your programs and offer suggestions, advice, and guidance in correcting errors or problems or if you had individual professionals who came in to review your library programs. I know that many of you may have district librarians who oversee these types of projects; however, for those in smaller schools or for those who may not be able to afford the services of a library consultant / company, what did you do? I am also interested in learning how much time was involved with the consultants (how long did they work with you in your library--did they work with you or others?), how much did it cost, and was the service useful after you received the report (in other words, did they mirror your requests, complaints, or problems or did they share information that you did not realize was available or offer solutions that you weren't aware of at the time)? Any information on this would be helpful. I will post a HIT if anyone is interested.
