AR or any other program is not the problem - misuse is
The principal is the instructional leader of the school --- they deternine the
instructional techniques used by their faculty and staff --
Or in other cases the District determines the structure of the K-12 curriculum --

Whether we are discussing the "Old" days when a 16mm film was misued or a software
program is -
Instructional leadership needs to be addressed

You can find postive and negative research on any topic --- depends on the point of
view you are looking for --

I am in need of articles evaluating problems with Accelerated Reader.
There is a long, very academic one on Stephen Krashen's web site. I
need something a little more accessible. Do you know of any good
ones?

Is AR an accepted fact of our libraries now? I didn't get one
suggestion from this post. The SLJ article was 3-4 years ago. Did
anyone keep it? I think I pitched my copy when our school got AR,
despite my objections.

I can't believe AR has taken over and everyone has just accepted it.
I have teachers who are assigning so much AR reading, the kids don't
have the time to read anything else. They come into the library and
don't take anything out. I push picture books, nonfiction and jokes.
My principal wants some articles about the down side of AR. Please
help!!
