My middle school has grades 6-8. We are considering changing our video/DVD policy from teacher checkout only to now include students also. I would like to hear from other middle and high school librarians as well as upper elementary regarding video checkout to students. How long is the checkout period (one week, overnight, etc.) and any problems you have encountered from students and/or teachers? Or do you not check out videos/DVDs to students and why. Our videos/DVDs are 99.9% "educational," not movies. Our teachers consider all the videos/DVDs to be just for them, mainly because that is the way we have always done it! We have a collection of about 400 videos. Checkout by teachers is good but not great. Thank you for any input.
