Within ISTE there are a number of SIGs (special Interest Groups). Each SIG sponsors
some sessions, recruits presenters and has their own discussion forums. The
"librarians" have a SIG SIGMS
(medial Specialists). One session sponsored specifically by this SIG was "A Key
Tech Team Member --Your School LIbrarian!" This session presented findings from a
recent study on about school
librarians involvement in technology activities. The SIGMS also has a discussion
forum via the ISTE Blackboard site.

One group of sessions at NECC focused on using digital images across the
curriculum. On one day, there were 5 back to back sessions about using digital
images (all in the same room); Digital Imagery in the
Mathematics Curriculum, Creative Uses of Digital Images in the Science Class and
Laboratory, Enhancing the Social Studies Classroom with Digital Images, Enter Here:
Digital Images in the English Classroom,
Every PIcture Tells a Story: A visual Literacy Journey. Do a search using the
program search on the NECC website, for concurrent sessions on Tuesday, Jun 28, use
the search term digital in the title field
ISTE has published a book on the topic which will be out in about 2 weeks. Teaching
with Digital Images: Acquire, Analyze, Create, Communicate. I looked at the preview
copy, it had a chapter on use of digital imates
for each of the four above curricular areas.

Keynote was David Weinberger, Consultant and Entrepreneur The New Shape of
Knowledge http://www.hyperorg.com/
