You know, I don't see a problem with shelving series separately. In fact, I do so, too. But, I believe in the interest of teaching and understanding book location to students that that series section needs to have a special call number. Then, I think it all makes sense. So, I need to find a call number that starts out maybe F Ser ***? If so, I'd guess that the *** would represent the name of the series, right? I am just thinking aloud here. After all, isn't the bottom line when teaching location that each item in the library has a special address (location); and that address is indicated on the spine of the book as a call number. The call number can be discovered by using the computer catalog, then one only has to go to the proper place on the shelf (guided by the call number) and locate the book. Yes, I teach K-8, can you tell? Connie W.
