<>I am not good at watering plants or feeding and cleaning cages or aquariums so I have avoided both. I purchased some very real looking silk greens and placed them on top of shelves. I also purchased some different cascading flowers of different colors and I put them in with the greens, I even change them from time to time to add variety. I also purchased so vert real looking bundles of flowers. Many have stopped and asked me who sent me the beautiful pink tulips, they are actually the same ones year after year. I also purchased some fake aquariums from avon several years ago. The kids love them, they use 4 AA batteries and the fish do swim around. I know my daughters have had several similar things over the year from tubes to fish bowls and the kids love them. It is the feel of animals without the mess. I also aquired some lobster traps this year and since we are in MD and the Chesapeake Bay is a main part of our state I put them on top of a shelf and purchased some rubber lobsters and little fake fish to put inside, the kids throught they were great. I also place kites on the window blinds, they add enough without blocking the natural light. In the past I had a room door from my one library that led to a special ed. classroom. To keep the distractions down the classroom teacher use to decorate the window. The best was when she put up blue tissue paper and made it look like an aquarium. With the light shining through it looked neat from my side as well. I am moving to a new school this year and hope to use some of these again, and hopefully come up with some new too. ----- Diane Mentzer - NBCT (Library Media Specialist / Tech Coordinator / Webmaster) Bester Elementary School Hagerstown, MD http://www.wcboe.k12.md.us mentzdia@wcboe.k12.md.us dmentzerLMS@comcast.net To learn to read is basic, To LOVE to read is the plus! ************************************************************** "Show me a computer expert that gives a damn, and I'll show you a librarian."
