I work in a very large district that has many serious issues and agendas.
Libraries are pretty much on the bottom of the list as far as support. There are
quite a few elementary librarians and we try to do our best. We have not had a
director in a few years, so there is not much leadership or direction here. We are
pretty much out on our own. I can speak for myself that I am proud of the job I
do, I have a great principal who values the library and what I do, sometimes this
is not enough.
Another elementary librarian and I are planning a meeting with the
Superindentent to discuss the future of libraries in our district. On our last
staff development day every area of the school was assigned a place to go for a
workshop but the librarians, we were told just pick a place. We realized it's time
to speak up. We want to go in with some positive and foward thinking thoughts and
ideas. We do not want to be negative and complaining. The best people to ask and
to support libraries are YOU Guys so please give me your ideas on this.
