Dear Colleagues,

I hope you aren't tired of my musings--and the questions that attend
them. But it's true that if we were having coffee/tea or chatting over
Merlot, I'd be asking these questions, and I guess LM_NET will have to be
our substitute until I see you at AASL. So . . .

Can we talk about Student Achievement, Libraries, and NCLB?

I'm writing an article this week and thinking deeply about these
subjects. I'd like to hear your thinking too. Specifically:

How are YOU (your library program) specifically influencing student
achievement in your school? Do you collect data to prove it? Is it
something you just KNOW but haven't yet proven?

And what about NCLB? What are you (in your library) doing to help your
principal/teachers/students/school meet NCLB mandates (regardless of what
you/we think of the mandates personally)?

If you don't mind being quoted in an article, please let me know. If you'd
like to share just for the HIT, or anonymously in the article, let me know
that too.

Best,
Toni (thinking late on a Tuesday night)
