Hello! I have just been offered a position at a private, K-8 charter school as an LMS. The principal informed me during the interview that part of my job in addition to LMS duties would be to work closely with the reading specialist and remedial students (6-7 graders), teaching them writing skills, reading skills, and research skills. I am okay with the research skills part, but if anyone could lend some ideas on what kinds of writing lessons and reading lessons you would teach that age group, I'd appreciate it. I've only taught up to 5th grade before and so I'm not too familiar with JHS lessons and standards. Or, if anyone else has been in this situation before, I'd love hear from you! Please e-mail me privately! Thanks!
