Dear Colleagues- On behalf of the Australian School Libraries Association (ASLA), I would like to bring this conference participation opportunity to your attention: Visions of Learning: ASLA Online II 8th to 26th May 2006 Call for Abstracts close 5th August 2005 - first round submissions, and 31st August - second round submissions. More information related to the Call for Abstracts can be found at http://www.asla.org.au/natcon.htm The conference theme is Visions of Learning with the following conference strands. 1.Powerful purpose - examines the who, what and why of teaching and how it effects delivery. (Strand descriptors - Embracing the social and cultural influences of the learner; Challenging the traditional educational paradigms; Developing and working with a constructivist approach to curriculum development; Engaging the learner in a digital world; Advancing the information professionals practice; Unpacking lifelong learning; Fostering social networking; Connecting research to practice) 2. Powerful pedagogy - examines different models of teaching and learning and how they can be applied. (Strand descriptors - Harnessing informal learning, and prior knowledge and understanding; Integrating multiple literacies (information literacy, visual literacy, critical literacy) into the curriculum; Resourcing e-learning through emerging and future technologies; Providing access to quality resources and digital assets; Embracing learning styles, multiple intelligences and higher order thinking) 3. Powerful practice - examines what happens when good teaching and learning takes place. (Strand descriptors - Building productive partnerships and influential relationships; Facilitating cooperative and collaborative teaching and learning; Creating information rich learning environments; Nurturing learning communities; Fostering digital storytelling) 4. Powerful performance - examines learning processes, information delivery and assessment methods and their impact on student achievement.
