Does your filter company offer a way to suggest changes in categorizing? I've been pretty successful with requested changes with Websense, our filter. Also, maybe the local whitelist could override the company database if your district understands educational benefits of bloglines. Otherwise, I just switched from Bloglines to SharpReader <http://sharpreader.com/>. It is a separate program though and thus may cause other problems in your setup. DMOZ has a pretty complete list of aggregators <http://www.dmoz.org/Reference/Libraries/Library_and_Information_Science/Technical_Services/Cataloguing/Metadata/RDF/Applications/RSS/News_Readers/> with many web-based ones with preset news links.
