I know this isn't a reading listserv, but I know too from experience that this is 
the group that finds and shares all kinds of helpful info,  We are in the process 
of deciding on a K-12 literacy program and may be taking a look at reading series 
on the elementary level (K-6).  We have been directed to a great site, The Oregon 
Reading First Supplemental and Intervention Reading Programs ( which gives  reviews of 85 
reading series and rates them on the various components, including comorehension, 
fluency, vocabulary, etc. Apparently the programs were reviewed by teachers in the 
So, here is my question: Are there any other states or districts that have 
undertaken a similar series review that we could use to compare what Oregon did to 
see how the series stack up?  If you can direct me to a Web site, that would be 
most helpful.
