Had lots of responses to my question (the original post is at the bottom). Most people emailed with a more complete summary of the episode, but a few had some thoughts of their own: 1.) Put the numbers in phone number form, so 4 8 15 16 23 42 would be 481-516-2342. 2.) Is Jack's seat number 23? How is that definitely known? 3.) IT'S THE MONTH/DAY/YEAR/HOUR/MINUTE/SECOND/ THAT THE HATCH WAS SEALED (Military time that is) : Military time would be April, 8, 1915 4:23 42sec pm 4.) Could refer to latitude and longitude putting you in Africa. 5.) Might be a serial number perhaps tied in with the cable in the ocean or a government experiment gone awry. 6.) A combination to the hatch/box that was found. Hopefully, I summed up the ideas correctly. Having never seen the show, it's hard to explain! Many people were impressed that the student thought it was a code. I have discovered some alphabets with 42 letters but that doesn't help me too much1 :-) Original post: A sixth grade student just popped in after school. He was watching "Lost" with his parents last night and he said there was a coded alphabet. Kinda ties in with a lottery. He thought the numbers refer to the particular letter of the alphabet then those letters could possibly be used to form a word. The numbers were 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42/ I don't watch the show at all, so I don't even know if this code would be real or if he understood the episode. Any fans of the show able to help us out? I did find two references to the numbers on the tvtome.com website but they don't "crack the code". Hope I'm not making a fool of myself... but anything to help out. :-) Please reply directly to me.Thanks so much! Thanks!
