In case there are others that would like to know the answer to the question I asked I will state it here. The question asked was Why are the Laura Ingalls Wilder books listed as Fiction and not autobiographies? The answer is that they are "lightly" fictionalized. She left out things that she deemed inappropriate for her young readers and also changed the timeline a little in some of her books. (Her brother's death was left out, Carrie appeared in the story earlier than historically accurate.)
