Hi,
Our district of 21 buildings and over 10,000 students is considering adding the
textbook module to our Destiny program. I would appreciate hearing from schools
that use a management system to hear how you like it, what we need to ask about,
what possible problems we'd run into and who in your schools actually manages the
whole setup.

Specifically, do the teachers check the books out to students or do the
librarians/aides have to do that? Where are textbooks stockpiled: in a classroom,
a school building or a central warehouse? How much time, aside from the initial
set-up of barcoding and entering information, does it take in a typical week,
month, whatever? Why did your district/school decide on doing this? Was it from
loss rates or just to have a better tracking method?

Whatever insight anyone can give me would be much appreciated as this is a large
amount of money and I want to be certain we'd be doing the best thing for the
district.

I did check the archives, and there is some dialogue on the topic there, but not
everything that I need answered. Basically, I read that if you can avoid doing it,
that's the best thing. However, we may not be able to avoid it and I need to know
some best practices for how to handle it.

I will post a HIT if there is interest in that.

Thanks much,

Konnie
