My question: I only use the DVDs and Videos for instruction, so if I am understanding correctly, I can purchase them from anywhere for instructional use. If my PTA decided that they wanted to show one during recess, could they purchase a License for Public Viewing and show these same DVDs and Videos? Answer: Yes, no, and maybe. You can purchase them "from anywhere" for educational use UNLESS they have a shrink wrap license that says they are not for schools or libraries. I see those frequently at Sam's and Costco. If they want to show the videos at recess AND THE PRODUCER IS ONE OF THE ONES COVERED BY THE LICENSE, you can show them for reward or entertainment purposes. Remember, that license only covers about 20 of the most popular entertainment producers like Disney, Warner Bros. etc. Verify first.
