I am the librarian at a K-8 elementary school. I have been here at St. Ann for two years. The previous librarian was here for 19 years. The non-fiction collection is in need of weeding, a project which I have not yet undertaken. I have done theoretical projects on this but when it comes to actually pulling the books and discarding them I am having trouble. My main concern is that I may throw out something that is useful or that I may be overly cautious and keep things that we really don't need. A lot of our materials date back to the 1960's and I feel that they are just taking up space. My question to you guys is this...do you have any suggestions for where to begin or what criteria you use when deciding what to keep and what to discard? I would appreciate any advice/tips you could give me to get this project started. Thanks so much! Sara ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sara Darling, M.I.S.
