Wow! What a great week I have just had. Even though the State of Maine was not officially doing TV Turn-Off Week this year, I went ahead with my activities. We had something special going on every night after school to provide an alternative to watching TV. It is the first time I had ever done anything like this and I wasn't sure how it would go over in the community. I had hopes that is would be successful, but it exceeded my wildest expectations. We had over 100 people come every night but one, and one of the nights saw more that 400 attendees. Our five nights were: a potluck supper, board games, an open house art show with ice cream social (yup, that was our big night), an author presentation, and a book swap. I got nothing but compliments all week from staff, students, and parents. We even had a local news station stop by one night. I can't wait until next year to do it again. Sorry for going on so long, but I just had to share. Kaline Goodrich, LMS HES & HMS Hermon, ME kaline369@yahoo.com Knowledge is free at the library.
