Hello, Wise Ones!
We are in the process of revamping the technology program at our school. We
really need some data to show to the school board what other schools are
doing, what's successful, what's not successful, and which staff positions
are covering technology. Basically, we want to hire a technology teacher to
integrate tech AND classroom content standards into a program. I would love
to hear about your school/ program, specifically:

* number of students in your school
* number of librarians/ technology staff
* fixed or flexible schedule? extended hours?
* duties of tech staff and tech support
* technology teaching expectations of the librarian

I'd also love ideas to help shape our program. We serve 400 students, k-8,
in Philadelphia. Currently, I am the only librarian (and I teach guided
reading groups an hour and a half a day). There is also a part-time tech
teacher that teaches lessons in our computer lab, and a full time technology
"director" who does not work with students but works with keeping our
network and systems running-- basically he's our "go to" guy for computer
needs (but not curriculum needs). Do other schools have a person like this,
too, or is it covered by the tech. teacher?

Our tech teacher position is in danger of being eliminated... unless we get
some helpful data and ideas! As the LMS, I am very comfortable with
collaborative teaching and planning for both library and the lab. But, with
no paraprofessional to help with admin. tasks in the library or in the lab I
simply can not do both!!! Thanks for taking the time to read and ponder
this lengthy query on a busy Monday. I'd appreciate any ideas!
