[LM_NET] TAR: Elem. Name of Book

Dear Colleagues,
A parent is looking for a book that he read in elementary school in the
1970's about two brothers. One brother is in a bicycle race and the other
wants to join him. I think the younger one sneaks out and meets up with the
racing brother. They finish the race together. Does this sound familiar?
