Hi everyone,

I've just posted several new articles on the homepage of the Digital
Divide Network that might be of interest. These stories and more can be

Taking Back the Media: Teaching More than Basic Computer Skills at CCTV

When asked what aspect of Cambridge Community Television (CCTV) he was
most proud of, David Zermeno, CCTV Community Technologies Program
Manager, said it was the little things that pleased him. He told the
story of one student who learned word and photo programs in order to
make small poetry booklets. Her hunger for media literacy didn’t stop at
computer skills; she eventually produced her own television show, which
has now been running for two years. Similar stories can be told of
numerous CCTV members, who come from a range of backgrounds.

InterConnection Provides Websites And Visibility

Many great organizations are not visible to funders, clients, or allies.
This is especially true of NGOs in the developing world. InterConnection
is a nonprofit attempting to fix this problem by providing client
organizations, the majority of which are in South America and Africa,
with websites that provide organizations with greater visibility.

Creating Computers for Classrooms

Computers for Classrooms, a small non-profit organization founded by Pat
Furr, refurbishes computers and gives them to California classrooms. The
techological access and community-based training makes a visible
difference in the under- resourced communities and schools served by CFC.

Equal Access: Local Content, Engaged Communities

San Francisco NGO Equal Access creates customized communication
strategies and outreach solutions that address the most critical
problems affecting people in the developing world. By designing and
producing compelling local language audio and multimedia programs
in-country, they educate and catalyze behavior change in target
audiences. An interview with Program Coordinator Camaran Pipes brought
to light many of their innovative strategies.
