Yes, the shapes do mean something specific and there are several websites that explain the differences. Go to Google and search for flowcharts and one of the sites that comes up will probably be this one: http://deming.eng.clemson.edu/pub/tutorials/qctools/flowm.htm a lot of the other sites want to sell you software.
