I just love lm_net and the wonderful opportunity it provides in sharing our thoughts and ideas on topics in this great field of school librarianship! Since the article I wrote for the October issue of Library Media Connection "Give 'Em What They Want: Reorganizing Your Fiction Collection by Genre," has been mentioned during this thread, I just wanted to make a few comments. No system is perfect, every school's student population is different...reorganizing did take a lot of time. Bottom line: My middle schoolers are loving the new arrangement and they are reading more (our circ statistics have definitely gone up) Was it worth the time and effort to reorganize? Was our goal of getting more students to read for pleasure met? YES!!! Elizabeth Elizabeth P.
