I didn't receive any answers--just requests for a hit, but I did find out a couple of things on my own in the meantime. First, School Library Journal addressed this question in the June 2005 issue in the "Carrie on Copyright" column (p. 29). The answer, as I understand it, depends upon the terms of the agreement we enter with such a service. I also called Audible.com, though, and was told that they used to have accounts for libraries, but that program has been temporarily suspended as they revise their library account policies because of "publisher concerns." They took my contact information and said that the person who handles school accounts will contact me when they have the policies revised and are ready to handle school accounts again--probably in a few months. In the meantime, if anyone finds a different service that allows school accounts and is affordable, please let us know. Thanks!
