My superintendent is wanting to start a summer program for the Pre-K through 2nd grade students. There are a few problems with this. The first being our library is set up for 3rd through 12th grades. We have very few resources that would be of interest to this level. The second fact is that he feels that this summer program could be ran by volunteers from the community. In other words he is not willing to pay for anyone to be in charge of this program. Finally, I'm not real excited about the fact that my library will be turned over to a volunteer during the summer. I'm not sure what I will come back to in the fall. Has anyone every offered a summer program, where the school library is open certain hours during the summer? Can you please give me some advice on how to make this work?
