[LM_NET] Radio program: The Eleventh Indian

Hello,

There is a new Native American radio program on the air that I want to 
share with listserv members.

"The Eleventh Indian"

It is a community effort involving Native and non-Native community members 
in Urbana-Champaign, and faculty, staff, and students at the University of 
Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. The Eleventh Indian is broadcast on a 
community low-frequency radio station, WRFU, 104.5 in Urbana, Illinois, at 
8:00 AM every Thursday morning. (Webcast at 
http://prometheusradio.org:8000/wrfu.m3u)

Segments vary from week to week and will include:

Native American Music: Traditional and contemporary Native jazz, rap, 
country, etc.

This Week in Indian Country: "This day in history" but also contemporary 
news items

Indian in the Cupboards: Food and recipes

This Indigenous Life: Similar to ‘This American Life’ on public radio, but 
with a Native perspective.

"NIMBY" ­Natives In My Back Yard:  Interviews and conversations with Native 
people about life in their communities.

Minihaha: Humor, including jokes and funny stories.

Native News: Headlines and news summaries from Native news sources.

Todd Appleman: Satire

What do you know about Indians?: Interviews of non-Natives

Everything you ever wanted to know about Indians but were afraid to ask: 
Submit questions to elevenndn@yahoo.com. Selected answers will be read over 
the air.

Dances With Whiteness: Natives and others identified as “minority” or 
"ethnic" critique an element of “dominant” culture.

Features: Interviews with guest speakers, artists, community people, 
centered around Native-ness

Send feedback, requests, question to elevenndn@yahoo.com, and forward this 
email on to others who may be interested in Native American radio programming.
