My 8th grade self-contained LD teacher asked me for suggestions of a novel for his kids to read. I gave him several suggestions that he did not get excited about: Holes, On My Honor, Jasmin's Notebook, Locomotion, the Island series, and MIracle's Boys. His only comment was he wanted something contemporay urban. He has good kids who are not too many grade levels behind but I will assume it needs to be fairly short. He has only 8 kids so I can probably find enough copies at the public library etc. What do you wise middle school librarians suggest? Thanks.
