Hi, I'm wondering which Dewey number most schools are assigning to biographical AV items or books on authors? Most of what we have in our union catalog are assigned a DD # of 921. We have been receiving some lately from our vendor with an 813 number for American fiction writers. These items are biographical in content and would not be considered criticisms of the authors' works. I can see why items of criticisms of works of major classical authors might be cataloged that way, but not modern children's or young adult authors' biographical information. Has anyone noticed a movement in the direction of using 813 more or are most people still using 921 for biographical items? Thanks for your help.
