LM Netters: The population at our high school is growing steadily, and my principal has asked me to investigate different scheduling options for his consideration. In addition to searching the professional journals, I’d like to get input from my fellow high school and middle school librarians. How does your school schedule its day? Currently, our school year runs 9.5 months (September – mid June), 5 days a week. Each school day is broken down into eighteen 20-minute mods, with most classes comprising 2 mods (for a total of 40 minutes). Individual students follow the same schedule every day Mon-Fri (e.g., a student might have English during mods 1-2, physics during mods 3-4, social studies during mods 5-6, lunch during mods 7-8, and so on). If you could provide a similar description of your school’s scheduling scheme, I’d appreciate it (and so would my principal). Please respond directly to me, and I’ll post a Hit compiling the replies. Many thanks!
