'netters-
In addition to library duties I meet with a seventh grade "advisory" group . Last
week before Thanksgiving I left the students in the room while I left to make
popcorn. After the group broke up I noticed that my school keys were missing. Of
course, I retraced my steps, etc., but I suspected that one of the students took
them. I've asked kids in passing when I see them (in a non-threatening way) if
anyone had seen them. I finally cornered the student that was sitting in my chair
when I got back with the popped corn. I pulled him out of his study hall &
casually asked him since he had been in my chair, did he happen to see my keys.
And miracle of miracles, he said that he had "found" the keys & returned them to me.

He's not really a bad kid, but I imagine that he is certainly seeking attention. I
have a meeting with the principal tomorrow to discuss this. Does any one have a
suggestion for a book about a prank & its consequences? I would rather that
punishment be a learned lesson.

Please respond to my email address below & I will post a hit if there is interest.

Thanks -- Susan
