Hello LM_NETTERS,

Thank you to those who responded to my request for information about online
databases to access MARC records. Once again the level of professional
sharing and commitment to librarianship in our schools is second to none!

I was aware of The Library of Congress http://catalog.loc.gov/and Canada's
AMICUS
http://www.collectionscanada.ca/amicus/index-e.html (You need to create a
username and password but it is free. To our U.S. colleagues-- this is a
good source of records for Canadian material - English and French)

I was wanting to have a look at paid subscription databases so that the MARC
records were more refined for school collections.

I have not analised all of these suggestions yet. I am sending this
summation out promptly as others are waiting for this information.

Options do include:
Marc Source from Sagebrush Technologies- They do offer good pricing for all
schools in the county subscribing. I am yet to view and evaluate the
records.

Alliance Plus online from Follett

Check out Marcive. They do not charge to subscribe, and they charge about
25 cents per downloaded record. You can find them at www.marcive.com. I've
used them for years, and they have better records than anyone. They have
customized my template for me, and they are really nice people to talk to on
the phone. There is no minimum.

Hi, I use the Library of Congress MARC records. If you go to their website,
www.loc.gov/ then go to the library catalogs side button you can search for
the book and then ask for a full MARC record.

****
I use EZ-Cat by Book Systems. Visit their website at www.booksys.com You
can download Marc records to a disk then import them into Follett with no
trouble. Don't know the price of initial purchase by renewal is only
$100.00 per year. Well worth it.

****
We use PercisionOne from Bro Dart. It is about $500.00 per year.

***
Mitinet http://www.mitinet.com has a wonderful suite of cataloguing software
that I love. Within it, there is a place to search for records or request
records that are not found.
