[LM_NET] ELEM: Manga appropriate for elementary?

My nieces are nuts about Manga books.  I found a bunch at a book sale 
and assumed that none were appropriate for my kids.  I have been 
collecting graphic novels and other books that use the comic book 
form (is there another word for it?).  When my niece said that Fruits 
Basket would be appropriate, I thought I'd check it out with you. 
Has anyone read any of the Fruits Basket series?

I'm also curious if these are popular at the high school level 
anywhere else.  And does anyone have them in the library collection?
