Good Afternoon! I need some advice. My Reading Club wants to help Katrina relief. A noble cause, but so many things have already been done! Students put money in teacher jars to vote for favorites; students had class competition - each grade competing against each other; Homerooms competed and toys and books are being collected. Through the ALA we found out that only new and slightly new books were being accepted and naturally we'd have to pay for postage. We are a club with no funds, by the way. Now the students have thought of having a double feature movie night, having popcorn, etc. I'm thinking the mess, chaperones, copyright, etc. Please send me your thoughts, experiences, and suggestions. These kids want to do something, but they don't want to try and get money out of their fellow students for nothing, as no one has too much. Thanks. I'll post a hit if people are interested.
