Two questions.
1) What happens if the student/teacher comes across a version of the Wikipedia
that's not from the official, frequently updated, site. Anyone can license
Wikipedia data for free and call it their own encyclopedia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Download

Much the same way with Open Directory, and that service has become a joke.

2) "and popular articles do get fixed quickly."
Right on Tony! But what about the non-popular but still important useful
articles?

cheers,
gary

p.s. The founder of the Wikipedia has said that he wants to name and advisory
board to review all articles. Once this happens (if it happens) I would bet
to see plenty of problems arise from Wikipedians.

p.p.s. Encarta (now available free, full text, via MSN Search) has also
announced a plan for user submissions that will be reviewed by editors.
