I also have started to hear talk of wanting
the books in our elementary libraries labeled with lexile numbers. I
oppose the idea of having a visible label on our books because of how it
makes kids feel. And then the time it would take to locate those numbers!
I plan to ask Follett if they can help us out, but maybe it will just be
a limited part of the collection. Anyone else out there going through
this?

This was sent in response to Timothy Hatley, but his email acct is
blocking receipt. J

Nope, I am now in my SECOND year on this. If you have Follett or
Alexandria you can pay to have them level your books. BUT it ONLY covers
the books that are new and have ISBNs. And then it is only 8-22% of your
collection. I now have volunteers
going title by title at Lexiles.com. Since I only have one computer that
they are able to work on for this project, it is VERY time consuming.
THEN another is typing in passages of books TOO OLD to be lexiled so we
can know those numbers. TALK
about time consuming, and I am only AIMING at 50% of my collection to be
lexiled.

Good luck.
