[LM_NET] ELEM: Authors by state of birth?

One of our 3rd grade teachers wants to do an author study by the state authors were 
born in.  Is there a list available somewhere?  I've searched LM_NET archives and 
Google....but seems most I have found appear to be by state the author currently 
lives in.  Would appreciate any suggestions or recommendations...even if it's a 
site that gives the state where the author currently lives.
