Hi, I have a social studies teacher who would like his junior American history students to "locate an essay contest dealing with U.S.: history, economics or politics." His thinking is that he would like his students to participate in an essay contest to have something to mention in their college applications. He doesn't want them to all enter the same contest. He wants to offer them wide choices. He feels that winning is not important, but just the process of entering and preparing the essay will be a good experience for them. If someone wins some scholarship money, that will just be icing on the cake. I will post a hit if you can send me suggestions of contests for high school students that focus on U.S. history, economics or politics.
