Greetings!

ISLD - International School Library Day will be celebrated on Monday, October 24,
2005! This year's theme is "Discover the Adventure".

The International Association of School Librarianship has dedicated many pages to
ISLD at our website, School Libraries Online <http://www.iasl-slo.org>. The 2005
specific page is located at:
http://www.iasl-slo.org/isld2005.html

A variety of Resources, most of which were available at the IASL Conference in July
2005 in Hong Kong, are also located at our website at:
http://www.iasl-slo.org/sldresources.html

What are you doing around the world? You are welcome to submit your activities
here:
http://www.iasl-slo.org/isld2005-submit.html

Over the years, ISLD has grown more and more. Sometimes the impact of the day
simply cannot be measured. This was most clear to me when I visited a school in
Botswana two and a half years ago, and there on a bulletin board were copies of
poems students had written about ISLD. The activity of this school had not been
recorded anywhere, but nevertheless, ISLD was an part of the lives of those
children. I am sure that examples like this occur all over the world!

Cheers,
Peter Genco
IASL President
